ROMEO project (2025–2026)
Role-play methods for Interaction and Impact Assessment in Sustainable Public Procurement (ROMEO) develops a novel role-playing method and a playbook for public procurement processes. The project is funded by the Strategic Research Council at the Research Council of Finland.
Role-play methods for Interaction and Impact Assessment in Sustainable Public Procurement (ROMEO) will develop an interactive role-playing-based method for the assessment of the impacts of sustainability-oriented public procurement and specifying procurement needs. The game responds to the need to involve stakeholders and anticipate the impacts of procurement. The project will be carried out in cooperation with public procurement units. The project focuses on public services and related new technological solutions based on artificial intelligence in procurement cases.
The project will provide public procurers with the ability to implement sustainable, innovative public procurement and utilise new technology in the development of public sector operations. The end result of the project is a process tool that will be made available for public use. The implementation of the project includes a series of minimum two gaming events in the autumn of 2026.
This project will be carried out by Aalto University, the Finnish Environment Institute SYKE, Tampere University, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
